中美眼科研究合作高峰論壇

China-US Summit of Collaborative Ophthalmic Research

 

背景

今年是中美建交四十周年紀念。在過去二十年，中國和美國在基礎眼科和轉化研究以及臨床診療快速發展，處于國際領先地位。兩國分別形成頂尖的科學家隊伍和科研機構，互相之間有著不少的共同研究興趣，存在著有很多合作空間。

國家自然科學基金委員會（National Natural Science Foundation of China，簡稱NSFC）和美國國立衛生研究院（National Institutes of Health，簡稱NIH）是中國和美國分別負責生物醫學科學研究的宏觀管理、項目審議和經費劃撥的政府主管部門，對兩國的科學研究方向和實施具有權威的指導作用。

自2010年12月中美（NSFC-NIH）生物醫學合作研究項目（US-China Program for Biomedical Collaborative Research）實施起，雙方共同資助中美科學家開展合作研究，2019年1月該項目還把眼和視覺系統作為資助范圍，體現出兩國對眼科研究的重視。中美兩國眼科研究迎來重要機遇。

 

Background

This year is the 40^th anniversary of US-China diplomatic relation. Over the last two decades, basic Ophthalmic and translational research as well as clinical diagnosis and treatments have evolved rapidly, and the U.S. and China are leading the world. Scientific cooperation between the U.S. and China was initiated over 30 years ago and this partnership has also grown rapidly. Top research teams and institutes have been established respectively in the U.S. and China. Common scientific interests have been identified and both sides recognize that cooperative biomedical research benefits the world.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) of the U.S., the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) as representative government agencies have a long history of fostering this collaborative progress. All provide scientific research guidelines, strategic plans for scientific collaboration, review and support U.S.-China projects with priority budgeting and funding support.

NIH and NSFC signed an Implementing Arrangement (IA) in December 2010 to develop a new U.S.-China Program for Biomedical Research Cooperation. Both the NIH and NSFC have since allocated substantial funding to support joint collaborative activities.  The program was renewed and expanded in 2015 to foster more areas of priority disease collaboration.  In January 2019, the “eye and visual system” was included in the program. This clearly shows both governments’ commitment to ophthalmic research, which in turn signals significant opportunities to make great advances in ophthalmological and vision research.

1.為中美兩國的科研管理領導和頂尖眼科專家提供一個高端的交流互動平臺

2.分享兩國對眼科科研的戰略布局和發展思考，探討加強合作的策略和機制 

3.展示兩國眼科學研究的合作成果和最新進展，提升學術水平，加強合作網絡

Aims

1.To provide a high-level interaction and exchange platform for China-US research administrators, policy makers and leaders;

2.To share ideas, experience, and best practices in ophthalmic research to foster stronger strategy and development, and to explore and enhance collaborative mechanisms; 

3.To showcase the latest achievements and developments in China-US collaborative research, to enhance academic engagement and promote the collaborative network.
